Born May 18, 1952, George Strait, the king of country music, is still kicking, now in Spanish. In his newly released album, Twang, Strait sang a traditional Mexican folk song entitled "El Rey." I wonder if the king of country did it on purpose, "El Rey" translates to the king. Well, whatever the reason, George Strait has again outdone himself. To some the idea may have been bold, but Strait presents the song like the professional he is. The folk song has added even more fans to this man, as if we thought there could be anymore. Obviously, Strait is a smart man. He has breeched the boundaries of country music, and I feel that there will undoubtedly be more bilingual and interesting songs from Strait. Congratulations George Strait; you have once again changed country music for the better. What is King George up to now? Well, Reba McEntire, along with Lee Ann Womack have signed on for his 2010 tour. They will be beginning in Baltimore on Jan. 22, and ending in Des Moines, Iowa on April 10. For a complete list of dates and locations go here. It is sure to be a great tour. Reba is a living legend, herself. No doubt the fans are sure to get their money's worth.
